NYC: my catwalks favorite

A lot of inspirations come from NYC fashion shows.
Here is a selection of the S/S 2013 trends by my favorite american designers.

Let's start with Threeasfour that is my favorite  brand above all.
Angela Donhauser, Adi Gil and Gabriel Asfour strike again with this collection wich is very avant garde yet so wearable. Beautiful colors and, as usual, amazing accesories
Definitely my style, if i only could afford it!!!

Tara Subkoff, of Imitation of Christ, doesn't want to talk about clothes or fashion. In fact she presented her  "This is not a fashion show" at a Chelsea art gallery.
Models of all age and size changed their clothes in front mirrors while a video of a naked and pregnant Vanessa Beecroft was prjected in loop on the walls.
Here we are again in that area where, art and fashion, mix their boundaries.

Kate and Laura Mulleavy are the two sisters behind the label Rodarte
Their S/S collection has a flavor of a fantasy movie where women have a strong image and proudly walk in their armor like dresses on high fantasy/fururistic heels:

Sugary, punkish, flowery... The world of Anna Sui is something we know well enough but, for me, there is  something very "NYC" in her collections. It's like a legacy between the street style and the RTW.

I don't know much about Duro Olowu but i liked his use of printed material and his ladylike dresses:

What to say about Alexander Wang? He has presented an amazing collection that everybody has talked about and everybody has loved.
Black and white, sharp image, cut out dresses, gorgeous shoes.....
Everything has already been said.

Eyes on...

The New York fashion week has just started and we are all waiting to see what the "Usual Suspects" has in their baskets for the S/S 2013, but we all know that there's always something new to discover.
Digging a little bit, underneath the surface, i've found  out  Degen , a young  Brooklyn based designer which is presenting her second  collection.
Lindsay Degen, who attended Central Saint Martins and the Rhode Island School of Design, is a "knitter" since she was a little child in her native Ohio.
She developed her tecnique thru the years and now she creates pieces that are definitely unique: quirky, funny with a very strong style.

"ASK TELL" is the RTW collection for the F/W 2012: a game between the gendres roles and, as the designer claims: "... the brand celebrates the human body as a work of art....".

In fact, when talking about designes like Lindsay Degen, the border between art and fashion is really weak.

For the S/S 2013 collection, Degen, presents an even funnier and colourful world for both boys and girls:

I also love the make up artist's work:

More outfits from the S/S 2013 collection:

The shoes for the S/S 2013 are a the risult of a collaboration between Degen and Converse: a platform applied to the iconic sneakers:

A lot of fun, a lot of colors and many interesting ideas: i'll keep my eyes wide open on Lindsay Degan!!
